MEDSTOR CASE STUDY

CT Scanner room

{{brizy_dc_image_alt imageSrc=

Hospitals throughout the UK are demanding ever-more streamlined, modern spaces for treatment and patient care. When an NHS hospital wanted to equip the scanning room that would house its new Computerised Tomography (CT) scanner, specialist materials management provider Medstor, which has a large portfolio of HTM 71 healthcare storage products and extensive experience in the sector, was the perfect partner.

Throughout the project, communication between the hospital, local contractor, and Medstor Project Manager was efficient and effective. This helped the work to progress very smoothly and meet its scheduled completed date. Thanks to the new scanner and its dedicated room, the hospital has been able to extend working days, reduce waiting times, and take on more patients from different localities due to faster throughput.

The new scanner room

A CT scanner uses X-rays and a computer to create detailed images of the inside of the body. It is an expensive piece of kit, so the hospital wanted to make sure the new scanner was housed in a room that reflected the investment and supported the role it would play in enhancing patient care.

Once the design had been finalised, the Medstor team set to work, supplying a range of HTM 71 base and wall units in platinum white to echo the colour of the CT scanner and complement the room aesthetic. Laminate worktop, which is very durable and offers excellent infection prevention properties, completed the fit out.

These photographs of the room clearly show how impressive the new scanner room is: storage has been streamlined, space has been maximised, and there is a place for everything, avoiding cluttered surfaces and potential trip hazards.

HTM 71 furniture

Health Technical Memorandum 71 (HTM 71) is a comprehensive guide from the UK’s Department of Health on the design, installation and operation of furniture and equipment for the healthcare sector. It sets a global benchmark in manufacturing and standards.

The Medstor HTM 71 furniture system is in use throughout the UK and has even been installed in hospitals from the USA to Australia and everywhere in between via a global distribution network. At its heart lie Medstor cabinets, which are available in a wide selection of sizes and configurations with many shelving, door, drawer and worktop options. The cabinet interiors are built around Medstor’s unique and highly efficient tray-and-liner system.

Medstor healthcare storage solutions

The storage solutions Medstor provided for the hospital are typical of the highly effective products it designs for healthcare facilities throughout the world. Every element of each racking system or cabinet has beautifully simple, clean, sleek lines that not only complement the design of the room or building but also offer increased storage capacity, better cost efficiency through improved stock control, and dramatically enhanced infection control.

As everything made by Medstor is designed and built in-house in the UK, with some final assembly taking place in the receiving country if products are being exported, quality is controlled from start to finish, with a dedicated team working to guarantee the most successful and aesthetic utilisation of space.
