RFID cabinet and Sepsis cart

At Medstor, we always work with one eye on the future. Nowhere is this more evident than in our new RFID-enabled products, which take safety and efficient materials management to the level:

  • RFID cabinet
  • RFID sepsis cart

RFID (radio frequency identification) is a form of wireless communication that incorporates the use of electromagnetic or electrostatic coupling in the radio frequency portion of the electromagnetic spectrum to uniquely identify an object, animal or person.

Medstor RFID cabinet, developed with RFiD Discovery and Impinj

The Medstor RFID cabinet is WiFi enabled, and uses RFID for the management of consignment stock. It offers inventory tracking from the point of despatch to the point of use that is 100% accurate, every time. It reads hundreds of items in seconds, uniquely identifying each item as it is shipped or received.

The RFID cabinet also allows pre-authorised access for product retrieval when needed. Stock usage and replacements are recorded in real time, including expiry management and advanced shipping notice.

Available in bench top, mid-level mobile, and full height mobiles, cabinets can be built and configured to offer the very best in space utilisation and product protection.

Medstor RFID sepsis cart , developed with RFiD Discovery

The Medstor sepsis cart was developed by Medstor’s in-house design team to support the ‘Sepsis Six’, a set of six tasks developed by the UK Sepsis Trust to be instituted within one hour at the frontline. The six tasks are oxygen, blood cultures, intravenous antibiotics, fluids, haemoglobin and lactate measurement, and urine output monitoring.

The cart has six drawers, each labelled with one of the Sepsis Six tasks. It has two accessory rails and holders for a sharps bin, oxygen cylinder and files. Coloured bright orange with SEPSIS in large letters on one side, the cart is easy to identify. Four strong castors ensure easy manoeuvrability.

The cart also provides an extra work surface, with a further additional extendable section that can be used if needed. All in all, it provides an effective way to take sepsis care quickly to where it is needed, but is easy to store when not in use.

The Sepsis Six Care Bundle as a whole has been shown to reduce the relative risk of death by 46.6% when delivered to patients with severe sepsis within one hour. With the Medstor sepsis cart, nurses have everything they need to administer the care bundle all in one place, ready to be positioned close to the patient.
