HOW WE STARTED

The Medstor system was integrated into the Healthcare Division of Mailbox Mouldings International Ltd, which was founded following the management buy-out from the Guiness Group in 1982.
Medstor was established in 1990 and is part of the well-established Stamford Group of companies. Our customers benefit from working with a healthcare storage provider that isn’t going to disappear in the night – we have been in the materials management industry for over 40 years, and are constantly looking to expand and develop the services and solutions we offer.
When we started, hospital furniture tended to be grey and uninspiring, doing little to enhance the treatment environment.
But we changed all that!

In 1990, Stamford Products Ltd launched. The healthcare materials management division, Medstor, brought the first UK-manufactured, high-density storage system to the market. This was followed by the first polycarbonate systems tray in 1993, and the Quote to Order system in 1995, which massively reduced specification errors.
The first project Medstor ever completed was at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool, followed by The Christie in Manchester, Leeds General Infirmary, and Belfast Children’s Hospital.
The decade also saw Medstor getting its first NHS contract to supply storage solutions across the North West and heading to Germany for its first overseas exhibition.

Medstor grew to include a dedicated installation team and drawing department. A string of overseas distributors was appointed to take our products across the world. There was a seismic shift in NHS funding under the Labour government, and 139 new hospital builds were announced.
In addition to many NHS clients, Medstor expanded its customer base to include private healthcare providers such as Nuffield, Bupa, BMI and HCA, who also benefitted from our newly developed HTM 63 system, which was swiftly followed by the launch of the angled liner with flexible arrester clips.
In 2007, we were awarded our first PFI contract.

2010 started with huge growth in our Scottish work as we gained a place on the Great Glasgow and Clyde OJEC procurement strategy in addition to the place we already held on the North Ireland OJEC for the delivery and installation of modular storage systems for materials management, including survey and design
This decade saw a shift in the global economy, and we expanded our overseas business even further. In 2011, we participated in the huge Arab Health event for the first time – we have attended every year since. On the home front, we launched our showroom, which allows customers to experience our materials management solutions in a realistic healthcare environment.
A particular highlight was the launch of the Medstor Module Cart, which takes essential equipment directly to the point of care and is now one of our most popular product ranges.

At Medstor, we never stand still.
Our newest product, the RFID-enabled Sepsis Cart launched to great acclaim. In critical situations like sepsis emergencies, it’s vital to have everything needed for treatment close at hand and ready for use.
We are a very busy, thriving company, taking UK skills and products across the world. Throughout this period, we completed a huge range and variety of hospital and wider healthcare projects – please visit our Case Studies pages to read about them.

We have been supplying the NHS and private hospitals throughout the UK since we were first established in 1990. We also work with many hospitals overseas and have a global network of distributors. Our products conform to HTM 63 and HTM 71 standards and are built to support infection control strategies.
A constant programme of market research and development keeps us right at the top of our game. We invest in attending key healthcare events such as Medica and Arab Health, spending time talking to clients, understanding their needs, and making sure we can supply the products they want.

When you come to Medstor, you are talking to a company that has the security of being part of the much larger and very well established Stamford Group of Companies.
We also have our own centrally located UK manufacturing facility, a dedicated and experienced workforce, our own in-house design department and a team of staff absolutely committed to delivering outstanding customer service every time.
For something as important as healthcare, you want to use the best suppliers – our track record, evidenced by our reputation in the market and many case studies, shows just how strongly we perform in the healthcare storage sector.
