Metro Shelving

Posted by Marketing
Medstor has provided 50 bays of Metro specialist shelving for the Louisa Jordan Hospital in Glasgow, built in just two weeks to treat patients during the coronavirus outbreak. To help the hospital meet the tight timescale, we carried out the installation of the shelving system very quickly and free of charge - the image shows our very own Ian Fisher helping to build the Metro systems.

Unlike its counterparts in England, named after Florence Nightingale, the Louisa Jordan Hospital takes its name from a Scottish nurse who served during the First World War. It is housed in the main hall of Scotlands largest exhibition centre, the SEC. The next door building, the SSE Hydro, provides storage for all the equipment required by the temporary critical care field unit.

Military Emergency

Posted by Marketing
Medstor, working with distributor Kapamed International , has supplied mobile module carts for the Central Military Emergency University Hospital in Bucharest. The carts are being used in critical care areas currently given over to the treatment of patients with COVID-19.

Speaking from her bed, one patient, now well on the road to recovery, spoke of her experience of coronavirus: "I would like people to be very careful to protect themselves, to avoid contact, to take care, to believe what is being said, because it is all true. But I am recovering now, thanks to the wonderful medical team here.”

The Central Military Emergency University Hospital provides specialist medical assistance for civilians as well as military personnel and veterans. Medstor has supplied materials management equipment for several hospitals in the region, as part of Romanias ongoing investment in improving and developing its healthcare sector.

MEDSTOR PRESENTS TO LEADING GOVERNMENT HOSPITAL GROUP

Allison Seabourne, Medstor's sales director, recently returned from a trip to Romania, where she joined forces with our Romanian supplier, Kapamed International, to present to the government-run Administration of Hospital and Medical Services of Bucharest (ASSMB).

The ASSMB runs the region's hospitals, which aim to offer to the same high standards of treatment that a patient could expect anywhere else in Europe. After many years of challenging financial and political instability, healthcare within the region of Bucharest is being positively supported by the ASSMB, and hospital numbers and standards are improving hugely in line with this increased attention. Medstor has already worked in Romania across all of the eight development regions, delivering materials management and logistics solutions to both the public and private healthcare environment. The Regina Maria Health Network and the military hospitals are leading the charge for reform, embracing all the smart solutions and human resources benefits on offer.

MEDSTOR AT MEDICA - Dusseldorf 2018

12th-15th November - VISIT HALL 13 STAND A28 The Medstor Inventory Management Solutions will be launched at MEDICA 2018 as an addition to its popular modular storage system.

To operate efficiently, every hospital department must have enough stock of consumables to deal with the day-to-day needs of its patients. Until now, keeping track of a huge range of stock has been a repetitive chore, taking up valuable time as countless trays are checked, whether they need replenishing or not.

Medstor's new stock management system offers a new way to check, order and maintain levels of stock, and can be implemented across a single department or an entire trust. The web-based system uses stock replenishment software to identify where product is running low; staff can then order supplies quickly and easily, simply scanning the corresponding barcode or RFID tag using a phone app or dropping the tag into a wall box. As the system can be networked across sites via the phone app, a single person can take responsibility for maintaining levels at all locations, receiving real time updates to their mobile phone.

Medstor IMS:
Inventory Management Solutions
• Improves efficiency
• Saves time
• Releases staff to focus on patient care

The new system will be on the Medstor stand for trialling throughout the exhibition, see how we are using the latest technology to support hospitals.

BORDERS GENERAL HOSPITAL

When Borders General Hospital needed to increase space and streamline storage in its operating theatre preparation rooms, anaesthetic rooms and sterile services unit, the Estates and Facilities team knew it could count on healthcare materials management specialist Medstor to provide the perfect design and equipment package. Medstor has had a long and extremely positive relationship with the hospital and over the last eight years has provided storage solutions across the whole site, as well as working with several other smaller outlying satellite healthcare facilities for which the hospital's Estates and Facilities team is responsible, including Jedburgh Medical Practice and Hay Lodge Hospital in Peebles. As the operating theatres were in use throughout the day, much of the work had to be carried out at night with theatres ready for normal operation again the following day. Medstor achieved this thanks to the unfailing support of the hospital, with the Estates and Facilities team ensuring all areas were cleared and ready when the Medstor delivery vehicles arrived and even delivering items directly to the theatre areas, reducing installation time considerably and allowing tight deadlines to be met.

CASE STUDY

When Spire Harpenden Hospital wanted to improve the appearance and storage capacity of its operating theatre suite, materials management specialist Medstor was brought in to interpret the needs of the project and design a solution that was functional, creative and stylish.

The hospital needed the solution to be delivered quickly, a challenge the Medstor team was more than happy to address, pulling out all the stops to complete the project in just two weeks from design to installation - half the time usually needed for a project of this scope and size.

Many of the projects Medstor completes require the design team to think outside the box to deliver a custom storage and materials management solution that does everything the client needs it to. At Spire Harpenden Hospital, Medstor developed a design that changed an irregular area of wall in the theatre storage area beyond recognition, bringing together a range of units of different heights and sizes, and uniting them to create a bespoke wall of high volume storage where once there had just been dead space.

BLACKPOOL VICTORIA A&E

Medstor recently finished a major materials management project in the accident and emergency department at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. Victoria Hospital is the main hospital for Blackpool and the Fylde Coast in Lancashire, and is part of the Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The work to upgrade the four resuscitation bays was undertaken as part of a general refurbishment of existing facilities to improve patient throughput and care. A spokesman for Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said: The department was very impressed by the flexibility and professionalism shown by Medstor. The works undertaken in our Emergency Room were constricted to a very tight time scale and involved numerous simultaneous restorations such as mobile X-ray installation, new flooring, new lighting, redecoration etc.
